Hi , I am new to forums so be patient please. My Name is Andy and I am from the Caerphilly area and I ride a Triumph 800 xcx 2017 low as I have the the dreaded Duck problem . I have recently retired from work and am looking to do more touring of Europe. My problem is I suffer with arthritis in my hands and struggle with tyre changing / punctures. My question is to you all , are the alloy wheels ie tubeless directly interchangeable with my spoke (tubed) type wheels, also to mention that I have abs . Any help with this would be appreciated , thanks in advance. Andy
Hi Springy, yes it is fairly straightforward, however a set of replacement wheels will not be cheap, if you are really set on these then have a look at the Kineo wire spoked wheels (tubeless) that will fit you machine, and boy they will look cool, HPS do them, have a look at their website, I fitted a pair for a friend a few years back and they transformed the look, you will be hard pressed to see a like machine whilst out riding.
Thanks for the reply, I was considering replacing the front 21” with the 19” alloy but was wondering about the abs ring . Might mess up the signal ? Will look at the wheels you mentioned . Much appreciated
Just took a look at the kineo wheels. wow they look really cool but not intending to spend that amount as it would be cheaper to part x against another tiger with alloys . Appreciate the info though.
Tubed tyres are a PITA if you get a puncture. IIRC @Tiglet had experience of this in a group ride up in Jockistan some years ago. I think you could come across problems swapping the front wheel for a differeng size so I'd suggest either get some good breakdown cover or swap your bike for something with tubeless tyres like the 800XRX as trying to repair/change a tube at the side of the road is not to be recommended.
