Speed Twin Gear Position Sensor Issues (code P0914)

Hi all. I have a 2019 Speed Twin with 4,500 miles on it an am having recurring issues with the gear position sensor (Code P0914). This fault occurred the first time in February and results in a check engine light, ABS light and the malfunctioning of the gear read out in the display. The bike still runs pretty well but has a very high idle. It will also not start with the kick stand down, presumably because the bike doesn't know it's in neutral. In February I had the dealer fix it since the bike was still under warranty. Warranty ended in March and now in April the exact same fault occurred again. Called the dealer and they "lost" or never made a record of what they did to fix the bike the first time. Now that it is out of warranty I'd like to fix it myself instead of going through the hassle of taking it in for a day and paying labor hours, especially since they seem very disorganized.

I have read all the threads out there about common issues with the gear position sensor. I tried cleaning the old one to no avail, taking it apart with no results and finally resorted to buying a new one ($85). Plugged it up this afternoon and it didn't help or fix anything. Unplugged battery for 10 minutes, reset adaptations with tune ECU - no changes. CEL is still on, read out still doesn't show a gear, still doesn't start in neutral with the kick stand down.

Does anybody have any further ideas on what might be happening or what to look at next? Frustrating fault for what is still a pretty new bike, imo.
