Hey guys I'm new here. Looking at purchasing this bike hut need to know the make and year. Is it too old to use in 2019?
Well the MAKE is Obviously TRIUMPH Its on the tank ! It's a Sprint , the year will be on the VIN plate on the Head stem ! Late 90's to 2010 maybe , I've just bought a 1998 Sprint Executive , if it runs it's rideable ! My Sprint was laid up/seldom used since 2010...? Tyre's are dated .. It runs fine , rear suspension has No adjustment , adjuster is seized , but it's operational. The carburetors were out , needed some work , possibly still need to be synchronized , but otherwise it's good ! Bit rough but it is 21 yrs young !!
Thabks guys. It's a 1100cc bike. Itll be my first bike. I intend to purchase it, then learn within 3 months before I hit the road. What do think?
Age should never define if you should get the bike or not. Some of the finer things in life are better with age and if well maintained will outlast any of the newer stuff. Welcome to the group!
I’d say it’s a Speed Triple not a Sprint and it’ll be 955cc not 1100. The Sprint has different clocks doesn’t it? And the badge on the engine makes me think it’d be a Striple.
The label confirms it is a Speed Triple, probably a 955i rather than the 885 but certainly pre 2003 model I would guess.
Wouldn't agree there Ron, looks the same as one I used to own, that was a 2000 model 955i, it still had the older Speedie/Daytona rear fairing. https://www.thetriumphforum.com/gallery/photos/1798/
Welcome aboard Collins, great to have a budding new rider in our midst, hope the bike and test go well and you are soon out on the road getting acquainted with each other
collins Yes Ron has nailed it. Its a T509 Speed Triple. I would say between 2003 and 2007. It a very capable bike and will stand that wheel right up there in the air. It will sit with any modern sports bike out there. You will love it. The Tom Cruse movies had one in them. I can't remember the movie but it was the one where he was an agent think it was the second one he acted in. Sorry I just can't remember the movie but you can see this bike perform. Regards Joe
