    Hi folks,

Im afraid I dont have a bike and some will hate me for this but Im looking to put one of your lovely engines into a car. Wondered if anyone would be so kind as to take a couple measurements?

My main concern is driveshaft angles so any chance someone could measure their bike for me?

All I really need is the most forward parts of the headers to the centre of the output sprocket.

Will accept mm, inches, hell even yards!

    Thanks in advance,

    Craig.

    Hi, Craig. Welcome aboard.
The pedants herein will no doubt be wanting to know which Speed Triple engine you are thinking of using, 'cos they are like that. Trouble is there are a few to choose from - 885cc carburettor, probably a version using the 595 range (not too sure about that one myself - others will know) motor, the 955i engine or the 1050cc engine. The T595 Daytona or the 955i Daytona engines will be same dimensions as a Speed Triple version, just more powerful.
The 595 and 955 versions are both fuel injected as far as I know - can't think that the 595 ever had carbs, and it is not 595ccs, just to confuse the unwary. Oh, and me!! Can't remember what the capacity is - must be me age!!:p

    Hey Steve,

Thanks for the reply and sorry should have been clear. Its the the 1050 engine so 130bhp'ish.

Plan is to charge it to get around 180-200bhp which should be sufficient for an early elise, main thing is I want it be British, I had started the Hayabusa route but like the triumph idea and its much cheaper. As it will remain chain drive and the engine is located in the middle of the car I only have around 530mm from forward bulkhead to outer shaft centre line. Realistically the closest the chain drive diff can get to the bike output sprocket is 215mm. Id like to keep shaft angles as low as possible, say less than 10 degrees which given the wheel base Im hoping for the engine to be less than around 480mm.

    Make sense?

Very rough they are 500 long (rear of eng to front of d pipes, not inc cooler or rad) 600 deep inc exhaust going under engine and about 500 wide :)

If the 1050 engine doesn't fit then try the Daytona 955i (2001>) engine for size - it already has 147bhp at the crank (allegedly) and I would be willing to bet someone has already done the turbo/supercharger thing with it.:) Could be a mine of useful information thereabouts!:):)
