Couple of questions regarding throttle balance with TuneECU for you all....

Which is Cylinder 1, 2 and 3 when tuning

And how sensitive should the screws be ?

I ask as I've balanced all my bikes before using a Morgan Carbtune (Which I sold when I read TuneECU can do it upon buying my 2011 Speed) and it took very little adjustment to get a big change....

When trying to adjust mine earlier I can give it 1/2 to 1 whole turn and it makes hardly any difference.

I can also turn one out half a turn and it goes up by 10 but screwing it back in by 1/2 or 1 turn and it doesn't change :/

I am leaving it for 5 or more seconds between adjustments and flipping the throttle too.

Can't see any cracks on the body rubbers or the vacuum hoses either.

Does anything get blocked or the screws O rings perish ?

Any help will be greatly received....

Normally one is fixed and you set the others to that one. For instance number two cylinder on my vtec Honda was fixed, it's the one the throttle cable directly operated, and the others were set to that one.

My Speedy has a screw for each cylinder....

It was more to ask peoples experiences of how sensitive the screws are.....

Okedoky, haven't had a proper look at the throttles on the speed as it's under warranty and they were set at the last service, done plenty of others though and they responded fairly quick to small adjustments of the screws, with, as you say, a blip of the twistgrip to settle things in place. Hope you get it sorted.

I've read elsewhere that Tunecu takes an average of the vacuum for each cylinder over a few revolutions hence it not being too responsive....I still would have though a full turn would have made some difference though

Looks like I'll be buying another Carbtune to do it properly/accurately.

Are you hanging on to the bike now, I thought you were thinking of moving it on after the clutch debarcle

I can't afford another till I've moved house in a couple of weeks and sorted out what needs doing there first....

I'm just trying anything simple to help improve the problems while I'm still riding it as it's my daily transport.

The wife suggested getting a 2nd hand clutch basket to try see if it helps as I read some people who had the clutch issue from new had the outer basket replaced under warranty.....

Another Carbtune ordered (That's the last time I sell any tool)

Sadly won't get it till Tuesday :(

I'll post how it goes compared to TuneECU throttle balancing and if its better (which by past experience it should be) anyone who can make it to my house is free to have use of it...

Bought a 2nd hand clutch from a Sprint ST 1050 which uses the same part numbers as mine (Thought it best to check)

It's outer basket, Inner hub, clutch plates, pressure plate, springs. So the whole lot will be bolted on first and if need be I'll mix and match parts till I find the best scenario.

Good luck, I hope this sorts the problem once and for all.

I know my bike far too well ( meaning I've had it apart too much)

Strip down, throttle balance and back together in 28 minutes....

Nice and even, let's see how the ride to work is later....

Ride to work was much better, hell of a lot smoother and a lot cleaner and quicker pulling from low through to about 4000rpm...

    Couple of strange things though....

    Tune ECU said 630-620-630 before

Now all lovely and smooth it reads 630-620-640

Also 640hpa=48cm/hg (Carbtune reads in cm/hg)

But the Carbtune only read 22cm/hg not 48cm/hg

    ???????

Mmmm, curious about the readings, but glad it feels better to ride, which is the main thing. Oddly enough some bikes are meant to be set so the throttles give slightly different readings. The reason being that as you ask for the power coming off a corner say, then with one throttle opening a fraction before the rest it softens the response and reduces the likelihood of a snatchy throttle. The throttles still all give the same when opened up it just gives a smoother response coming off a closed throttle. So looking at your readings number three will open first followed a microsecond later by number one then lastly number two chimes in.
