Hi guys and gals I'm new to the site but not new to bikes. Been riding since 1989. I have various bikes in my collection. My current main bike is a 2003 fazer 1000 had it from new with 40k on the clock. I am now nearlt ready to buy a new bike. I have tried a speed triple r & Thruxton r. Don't know which one to get!!! What are your thoughts and experience on servicing and running costs of the two bikes. I know they cant be compared together as they are so different but I love them both for different reasons. Bit like choosing between holly willoughby and fern cotton!! Also will be buying from fowlers Bristol. Any comments on service from them welcome all good so far Cheers
The Fazer is a mighty fine bike and of the two choices the Speed Triple R is the obvious one to go for in my view, expect servicing to be similar on both Triumphs.
Hi Harry Hoarder, welcome to the jungle. As a Peed Triple R rider I am biased but looking at the Thruxton yesterday I don't envy your decision. However if you could remortgage your house or sell your wife and buy both and live up to your forum identity whatever you get please share the pictures
Hi HH, as you've tried both bikes yourself I'm not sure what value a forum thread is going to be to you? Which one tugged your heartstrings the strongest? One is a nutters bike, the other is more of a Gentlemans mode of transport - which one are you
Cheers guys. My problem is I love the classic style as much as the new. I've got my dads 1936 150cc bsa and 1950 bantam plus my old slabbie 1100 and 350lc to get going when time allows so maybe I have enough old style stuff already. . I think it will be the speed I go for. Going to IOM next year and my mates have zzr 1400. Thunderace and a blackbird. So I maybe outgunned on a Thruxton. Any tips on luggage? I like the look of kreiga stuff have a r30 rucksack.
i don't know how the Thruxton makes you feel, but when I'm riding my Speed Triple it makes me feel like I'm 25 again!!
I feel as I started this off I must defend miss Cotton. Holly may be the obvious choice but I bet Fern would give more in the long run!!! Anyway enough of this were supposed to be talking motorbikes!!
