Any recommendations for a decent garage/workshop space heater for a fairly confined space in my single detached garage?

The garage is 10 degrees at the moment and the oil filled radiator is only really any good for keeping the garage above 5 degrees in the Winter, which is a bit cold for fettling. :D

    Cheers

The wife does crafting (not witch crafting, though I'm sure she probably could). She makes some neat stuff. Some of the shows she goes to are still outdoors in the colder months. We looked for a small heater for her tent. Settled on this one. Relatively inexpensive. It's a single, 1lb. propane bottle model. They also make two cylinder models and ones that put out more BTUs, but they get more expensive as you go up in features. It'll supposedly run for about 2.5 hours on high and about 5 hours on low. It puts out 4000 to 9000 BTUs (low and high settings). It appears safe (has a tip over shut off) and is rated to be used indoors. If you are not talking about heating the garage full-time, but just when you are out there working, this might work. She hasn't used it "on the job" yet, but I tried it and it does throw some heat!.
Got ours at Lowe's, but EBAY is the same price.

I have the smallest space heater I could find but 60seconds of it running is far too hot to work in there. They tend to be all heat or nothing.
On the flip side I used two Chinese ‘Webasto’ style heaters which I’ve built into a overhead hot air central heating system

A word of caution. I would strongly advise AGAINST using any heater powered by propane. You will be putting an awful lot of H2O into the space you're heating so, without very good ventilation, and especially in colder climes, you'll find it condensing out on, say, cold metal ....... like, maybe, a motorcycle?

I’d be more worried about CO2 and CO in an enclosed space.

    Feeling sleepy.. ZzzzZzzz… Arghhh…

I bit the bullet and installed a built in shop heater in my garage. I wish I had done that YEARS ago. It is piped to the house gas and has a blower fan. I installed a thermostat next to the work bench. This is the third winter it has been in. Not cold enough this year to use it yet, but I have a bunch of winter projects planned already. ...J.D.

    P.S. Cost me about $2400 U.S. installed.

Ahhh...good thought, but I wasn't talking about a full time job for the heater, just when he was out there working. As for the fumes, it's rated safe for indoor use (I know, famous last words).

I'm fortunate. My wife converted the garage into a K9 grooming shop in her K9 grooming shop phase. That folded after she hurt he back and couldn't wrestle unruly customers, or their dogs. As result my garage has heat, air conditioning, good lighting and running water. My motorcycle and power equipment probably live better than 2/3 of the world's population.

Had the garage fan{enough to circulate the air}on a timer, dumb on my part. Now it runs all the time.
