Should I put my bike back to standard

Personally, when I look for a bike, I look to to see if it has already had extras done. I think it's more appealing to buyer, and I don't have to budget for more cash to improve on std. Did this buying 2 bikes last year. Hope the sale goes well remember to put a piccie in for sale section, I sold a bike to a guy on an off shore oil rig through this forum. Good luck with the sale.

 

Extras are more appealing to a buyer but that's because they can normally get all the extras already on the bike for less than if they bought them all 2nd hand and fitted them themselves. If you've got £700 worth of extras on your bike you'd be lucky to sell the bike for £700 more than a standard bike, and you'll probably end up giving away all the standard parts at the same time. If I was selling a bike I'd change it all back to standard and then either offer the parts separately to a buyer for a price or sell them on eBay.

 

I would not touch any bike that has extras which were fitted by the owner.

I had masses of factory extras on my Beamer and it went for the bog standard basic price so they got all the extras for nothing.

I did look to sell the TEX and despite having over 3k worth of extras which were dealer fitted the price offered was for a basic bike.

 

I bought my bike because it had most of the extras I was after, I also got the standard parts thrown in. This was what led me to buy the bike over a standard one, a little bit more in price but less than if I had to get the parts, so he got a quicker sell and what he wanted for it, I could not find a reason to haggle, he wouldn't drop the price either! I came away happy and he went happily down to the bank. So it might not be so much of a money thing but a quicker sale. The other way to look at it is did you do this as an investment or for your own pleasure? Have you got what you wanted out of it and don't forget Ebay and paypal will probably take around 15+ % in all so is it worth the hassle of posting off bits and pieces?

If you try to p/ex at a dealer they are only interested in giving you a price for the standard bike. Personally I would not buy a bike that has been personalised with lots of tat. If its got one or two tasty items like Arrow Exhausts with the originals then perhaps it may help sell but in my opinion it sells better as standard and you can e bay all the extras.

 

Depends who your selling it to.
If it's a px or to a dealer then they'll want it as standard as poss.
Privately,a few well chosen extras might temp a buyer who might pass on a standard bike.
The extras you've added are well chosen and if I was looking then I'd be tempted by them,weather you can get any extra money for them might depend on your haggling skills but I wouldn't give them away.
Make it plain the standard parts are available and if they won't pay a bit more for them then chuck them on e bay.

 

Personally, if the extras are worth a good price, I'd return the bike to standard and advertise it for a fair price.
However mention in the add or to any potential buyer that you have extras available for sale separately.

A few well chosen parts will perhaps attract a buyer but rarely add real value money wise.

 

I'm guessing the exhaust is the most expensive bit of kit and will probably be the easiest to sell on.
Indicators are generally cheap? (never looked into LED's so don't know for certain) so selling second hand may be difficult.

Not sure what the tail tidy cost, however you could use these "extras" to enhance add?

If the buyer of the bike wants to buy the other extras then great, if not try Ebay and have a starting price of the minimum you'd like/expect. It will cost to have a starting price but it's generally pennies (but remember your selling fees and PayPal fees if you use PayPal)

 

I brought my 1050 with some nice extras I looked at a few standard speed triples but the price wasn't that much different
I sold my fireblade with some taste full extras I think it helps as I sold my blade within 2 weeks and got top money for it privately

I would be interested in the fuel cap if it's avavilable (only if it is in black)

 

you might have to wait for a couple of months, april may seem to be the buying season for bikes

 

At the end of the day, if all the bits are cosmetic..which makes your bike stand out from the rest I would keep the parts on, that's why we all tweek our bikes to make them slightly unique....I would tend to avoid a bike that has been "tuned" though.

I put akropovic end cans on mine....just makes the bike sound different than everyone else's...but it is not a performance mod, if you know where I am coming from as I can put the originals back on, plus I put loads of other bits on, does not make the bike any faster than anyone else's, but looks better!!...you put two bikes next to each other you want the one with shiney or upgraded parts...so keep all the bits on and sell with as many original spares you have.
