I'm thinking about one as they're seemingly a very quiet helmet, I've got an Arai just now a quantum b, had it about 2 yrs and it's hellish for noise, wasn't bloody cheap either!. Like I say, the quest gets a good write up....it's one thing trying then in the shop for size, it's when you're on the bike, that really matters

Haven't tried the Quest but I have got a Shoei GT Air and a XR1000. TheGT Air is quiet but also the venting isn't as good as some other helmets I have had so it has been rather hot wearing it as of late. The XR100 has been a great helmet for the last 5 years and still use it a lot.

Just make sure that the Shoei fits you as they are a completely different shape than the Arai.

    Cheers

For quiet, Schuberth takes some beating I have had both C2 & C3.

    Both quiet.

It all depends upon which make suits your head shape, Shoei for me are painfull yet my misses loves hers.

    Ear plugs?

You can get custom ear plugs made for you, pricey but they do reduce the noise a lot

I have the Schuberth S2 moving from a comfortable and expensive Arai (it was Ducati Branded lol).
It is much less noisy but you do need to wear the neck curtain thing to make it really quite.
Very comfortable, internal cut outs for intercom speakers.
    Much much easier visor removal
Very nice internal drop down visor
Not as light as the Arai but not bad

I'm not sure there is such a thing as quiet helmet

As a bloke who suffers very badly from tinnitus from riding with no ear protection for too many years I think you should persevere with ear plugs. Helmets are incredibly noisy and prolonged exposure to that level of noise will damage your ears.

There are all sorts of ear plugs from cheap foam ones to expensive custom made. Try a selection of foam ones. Once you get used to them you won't want to ride without a pair. If nothing else the noise is incredibly tiring and ear plugs really alleviate that. You'll enjoy the experience even more and save your hearing.

I tried few on today, they didn't have the quest in small and medium felt a bit big, felt good but didn't come down my chin far enough. The guy suggested a schuberth but I couldn't my head in, even the large was to tight at the neck to put your head in so that's that out

The only shoei that really right was the gt air but at 400 quid I'm VERY reluctant to pay that again. I did get ear plugs (auritech) £20, I'll try them but if they're no use that's it

The guy mentioned a helmet skirt, I'll try the plugs again as they're diffirent to what I've got but if no joy I'll try the skirt, if that doesn't work, it's maybe a new helmet, see what happens

The schuberth helmets are all tight to put on, you have to pull the straps out to widen the cushioned area. Once fully on they are comfortable and its all that neck padding that you struggle to push your head through is what makes the helmet quite.

Yea I know, but even the guy in the shop was shocked at how I couldn't get past the neck padding, even on the large, it was really hurting my neck/spine pushing I said fk this, he agreed. They're probably very quiet and a very good fit, but when trying it on is like that, it's not on

I won't bore you all with this crap again, but all I'll say is, I rode about 20miles last night with the new earplugs (auritech) total waste of money , I think all you're paying for is the fancy bloody alloy tube that comes with them!. But as I've said already, I don't them, never have, don't mind muffs or stuff that covers, but nothing that go in

I've now read about a windjammer ll, but surprised that the shop I was at yesterday (j&s) didn't suggest that, but they won't when they're trying to sell a helmet!.......if that doesn't work then it'll maybe be a new one

A pity you can't get on with ear plugs as they will save your hearing if you ride a lot :frown:

Mind you, I just had a look at those plugs and they do not look at all comfortable. Have you tried foam ear plugs? I use these. Cheap, comfortable and effective.

I'd also say that I was never keen on using them initially but the audiologist was insistent that if I didn't start wearing ear protection I'd go deaf.

I spent too many years ignoring the warnings about damaging my hearing. It was only when I realised the ringing I was getting in my ears after a long ride wasn't going away any more that I went for treatment. Although there is no cure for tinnitus you can at least try and limit the damage by using ear plugs. For instance, I've pretty much stopped going to gigs. As much as I love loud music it simply isn't worth the ringing in my ears the next day and I don't like wearing ear plugs to listen to music as it cuts out too much of the sound.

    Ok, lecture over

Yeah, my first Shuberth S1 was incredibly tight to get on,and for the first few days I thought that I had made a big mistake but after a couple of weeks of persevering with it the neck collar softened up enough that is no longer a struggle to put on and is really comfortable and quiet.
