Has anyone had noise problems with the x-lite? I bought a Shoei Multitec in 2007 & last year & decided to get a new one mainly because "they" said sling your old one after 5 yrs. So narrowed it down to x-lite or neotec. After reading reviews there wasn't much in it except price, so thought I'd have a change & went for the cheaper Italian. Fitted nice & snug, in the shop I couldn't hear what the shop assistant was saying so I thought this'll do for me. On the road the wind roar was unbearable without earplugs, & just about with. With the Shoei I just put plugs in as part of getting togged up for a ride, but I didn't really need them. I'll just have to take the hit on the x-lite but I'm not shelling out another £fewhundred until I hear what I want to hear from all you sensible members. Not naming names but you know who you are:

I bought the new version X Lite Carbon 802RR last year. For the money its an excellent value helmet, came with the dark visor and pinlock, all for £300. That's my second X Lite. I agree its quite noisy but not unbearable or any worse than previous Arai helmets i've owned.

That's the trouble with buying helmets, until you try them on a bike you never know how noisy they're going to be. I know some people swear by Shoei being quiet and others say they're no better than other makes, guess it depends on the type of bike you ride, shape of your head etc etc etc

I think I'll go with the neotec - can use x-lite as a spare. Thanks for all info.

I have the x lite 802r in carbon. Absolutely beautiful helmet, and fits my head superbly.

I don't think the wind noise could be worse even if I didn't wear a lid. It's shockingly noisy. So I combat it with earplugs. Shouldn't have to I know, but that's the solution.

Still think it's a great helmet mind.

My arai rebel (helmet designed for naked bikes) is noisy too, but not quite as bad as the x lite. My AGV k5's are much better.

    Good luck with your choice

If you need to use ear plugs then use them.

For me it's the fit that's more important.

When I bought my new Shoei NXR 12 months ago I had a fitting session with Shoei at the nec bike show so I knew which liners I required.
