    Hi all
Just been quoted 250-300 for valve adjust, shims and cam chain tensioner spring and blades. A decent price? It's team.roberts.
Anyone know a decent mechanic I'm Sheffield or surrounding areas that are as good or cheap etc?
Sorry if it's in wrong place btw.
    Many thanks

    Not bad!!
For a full service including shim check was nearer £700 last year for my Speedie'2010, that was pretty much what I was charged by my Triumph dealer for the whole day on a major service at 12k miles and they didnt change any shims as they were all within tollerance.

Have you tried triumph specialist Clive wood who used to run the Jack Lilly race team? He's on the A17 at Swineshead. Find him on Facebook. I'm in Retford and he sorted my mapping out on my 08 thruxton and his wife makes you a bacon sandwich and tea whileClive works his magic. Used to be on the south coast and apparently a lot of his old customers still travel up for him to service their bikes. Great set up at his home and a very knowledgeable guy.

I like Team Roberts. Not been there for quite a while, but would not hesitate to recommend them. Had nothing but good service and decent prices from them in the past, both with my Trident 900 and my Daytona 955i CE when i had it.

Sorry if I'm sounding like a fully paid up member of the TR Fan Club!

Is Phil Roberts still sitting in the corner offering tea/coffee and Hobnobs to all who enter his emporium??

Said I'd not been there for a while!!

Well, team Roberts offering hobnob is very tempting. But Clive wood offers free bacon sarnies!
This is too hard to decide......

I'll give Clive a ring, see what he says.

    Thanks guys

Clive used to come to my house in Bristol but stopped as he could not offer the same service than from a fully kitted out workshop. He said if you find a pro lem but have not got the parts it would get ignored. Btw he was never short of bits when he did come. Yes. Triumph genuine parts are used by him also. He's been working on Hinckley's since 91. And does maintainace courses for some models but mainly t3's and street triples.

I've been looking for someone to do my 12K service on my daytona...

My local stealership (as I've heard them called) reckons £600 min plus shims etc £62.50 per hour plus vat!! Been told that its a days labour to do the 12K service!!

I've tried muddy sump and he no longer does the older Daytonas.

I've tried my local TOMCC and had the vice president mailed back saying he was in the same boat and didn't know of any Triumph mechanics.

Clive Woods is too far for me to travel.

I've tried various local motorbike shops and am still drawing a blank.....

Looks like I will have to go the stealership :(:(:(

    Anyone lend me £600

    Possibly...

I've found a guy in Fareham but couldn't find any testimonials... Only quote £400 and needs the bike for two days. Even taking account for fuel and train rides to and fro still will be cheaper than dealership.. http://www.motorcyclemechanic.co.uk/

    Anyone heard of him?

Hopefully I've now found someone a bit more local. They are called more speed racing http://www.moorespeedracing.co.uk/. A colleague at work has heard of them. They are meant to be good. They have their own dyno testing area and know performance/super bikes quite well.

I might still have a look at the Fareham place though. Any excuse for a ride out huh :)

I had some work carried out by Andy in Bridport a few years ago, a full Adventurer service including valve clearance check, removal and repair of alternator drive, carried out in one day, can't remember the cost, but well below dealer rates, also he actually fixed the snag rather than throwing parts at it.
He is Triumph trained, has all the kit and tooling, and is a very nice chap to deal with, will go back there if in trouble again.

You might give him a call, recommended,
