Just dipping my toe into helmet comms. Very happy with the fit and function of a basic Senna SMH5. I have heard stories of issues with rain on these and wondered if there might be a shower cap type of cover either made for helmet comms or something else that may offer a little more protection on my 100 mile commute?
I've had a few Sena's, and they are not guaranteed waterproof. But I've never had an issue with them, and I have been through lots of downpours with them on.
I would imagine something could be easily made by a reasonably competent sewer. Just a bit of waterproof material with a bit of elastic sewn in. It's something my wife would do but I've never considered it necessary and i've ridden through three or four days continual torrential rain in the Scottish Highlands without any problems.
First time using in anger for 200 miles of wet riding yesterday. Occasionally the rain was heavy and that was whilst at motorway speeds. Had no issues with the headset at all. Listened to a podcast and was easily able to mute when I was busy in traffic. Great bit of kit for £60! I realised before use that I had mounted the controller on the wrong side (right), but with it mounted on the left it is not only easier to press the button if needed when moving, but also means the button and lead face backwards away from the worst of the rain.
