Scrambler Scrambler 1200 Xe Side Stand Banging Against Frame

The side stand has a bare alloy knob that makes contact with a very thin rubber strap over the bike frame.

I bought a rubber bung from a marine chandlery.

I drilled out the large end of the bung a bit smaller than the alloy knob on the side stand and then cut the bung down to size. Pushed the bung onto the sidestand knob and it hits the frame stop perfectly with no clunk as previously occurred.

Will see how it works and may trim some more rubber off the end so that the stand sits a bit higher in the up position.

 

Went for a few hundred KLM ride today and no clatter from under the bike.
