Anybody had any trouble with these? I started to have trouble on the forum scottish trip, got home and swapped them for the one's in my missus helmet and all was well. Riding back from Wales, started to have trouble again, firs intermittently stop working, and yesterday out on a wee bimble, one stopped complety and the other intermittent. Stripped them out, dissassembled them, and definitely not the wires, but the actual speaker unit not working.

Emailed Cardo and their response -

You will have the option to upgrade the 40mm speakers for better sounds quality than would have come with the original packaging. This could an issue inside the cradles of the units also. I will recommend possibly looking to upgrade units entirely.. The Q-line has been discontinued by us and will no longer be supported by the community site and will have no future software updates.

So after a year of use, (not a lot over last 12 months), i should go out and spend another £200+ on new set, because I own an old model !!! Get tae feck !!!

Not impressed with Cardo, at all. Units themselves are brilliant, but the earpieces/headphones are shite, just google and see. Would have whole heartedly recommended these, but sadly cannot, let down by a cheap pair of speakers. Replacement from Cardo are £25. No way am I spending more money on these POS speakers.

Next step is to buy a set of over ear headphones and strip the superior quality speakers out and solder them on.

That sucks. Would have expected them to last more than a year!
I have the older Scala Rider Q2 headset, used everyday for the radio and it's been going strong for coming up 10 years (I think). So they must have went for cheaper quality parts for the following models :pensive:

Them using the excuse it's an older model is a load of balls though! It's not as if they are cheap to replace the whole thing!

I have the q3 and am having a slight issue with the jack, it’s like a loose connection, attached normal headphones and we’re fine so not the unit. Gave the plug a bit of a clean up and they’re fine. Getting intermittent Bluetooth connection which is annoying but not sure if it’s me or the unit

I thought it was a bad connection at the jackplug, unplugging and plugging back in worked sometimes, but I think this was more to do with 'jump starting' the speakers, rather than the plug itself. Have the unit currently running with a wired connection to a BT speaker (not using the BT) and is working fine. Can swap over to Scala speakers and nothing or one crackles some thing like the track playing.

Quite a few of us on here got this one a while ago,i find it better than my scala and it was cheap as chips £30 ish I think, just make sure you follow the instructions about charging it for the first 6 times (my mate got one and he didn't follow the instructions and his battery does not last near as long)

Super happy with the scala unit itself, works really well as intercom, answering the phone in emergency(ie when rich misses a big ugly tractor riding by!!!!), playing music, listening to sat-nav, etc, just the bloody speakers letting the side down

Gave customer services in USA a bollocking for that reply above, they are passing it onto UK arm to get it sorted. :D
    We'll see

Our Q3's are still working fine after about 5-6 years I think, so you just got shit luck I guess.
(admittedly sound quality has never been great)

The sound quality on my cheap Maxtec ones are far better than my Scalas and the controls are much better.. I've never had any problems with either of them though

Cheap headphones bought for £10, stripped out speakers.

    Soldered into the scala wires

    And it works a treat.

Speakers 50% bigger than oe, and sound much better.
