    Headed back from Campbeltown in the rain and sun catching the ferry from Tarbert to Portavadie and onwards....

    It's only a short crossing and if it's rough they don't take bikes.

    I've been down to Cambletown a few times but never taken the ferry,how much was it?
    instead of going back up the A83 have you been on the single track road B842? i've not done that road but the next time i go to Cambletown i was thinking about going back that way

    It was just over £14 for the two of us & the bikes, I have done the road from Campbeltown to Claonaig to catch the ferry to Lochranza in Arran a couple of years ago, not the best of roads.

    Yep done that B842 in the motorhome. Cracking little road with sea views and plenty of places to pitch a tent if on the bike. Nice views across to Arran
