Featured Renovated Vice

    Inherited a vice from my grandfather. Seemed like a good build quality but had that black antique look about it. I got the paraffin gun on it to remove the swarfy grease (can you use on the bike chain?) wire brush on the drill to remove the rusty patina then masked it up and painted with Hamerite before re-greasing and putting back together. Think my grandad would be pleased with the result and it was an enjoyable little project. Here's the pic;

    Looks like an old Record or Woden vice, I’ve got a small 1960’s Woden engineers vice on my bench in the garage, still providing excellent service after 50 + years.

    Yes, it's also a Woden vice, must be a similar age.

    They are beautifully made, I bought mine about 30 years ago in a general auction sale in Northampton, it’ll probably last another 50 years it’s so over engineered.
