Removing side panel panel clip on 2010 speedie

Really annoying, trying to remove panel clip to take rear panels off 2010 speedie to change exhaust, they should be simple, just unscrew the central plastic cross headed screw and then pull the plug out ( there like a raw plug essentially) but in my case the screws just spin and don't come out and I really don't want to force them and snap the side panels, if this sense any ideas most welcome.
