    Hi guys and girls,
This is for those of you who have a Storm with stock pipes.
I have a 2012 Storm and I'm trying to find a paddock stand. Per Triumph's Costumer Service rep, I was told that Triumph does not make a stand for the bike. My local dealer has a PitBull stand for $250!
The other option is to buy a lift but I need to use a wooden block to protect the oil sump.

What do you guys use to lift the bike off the ground?
    Thanks.

I have one of these for my thruxton, works well but as you say you need blocks to clear oil filter, at least you can get both wheels off the ground

Thanks Crispey. I've been looking at a similar scissor lift over here. I think that's the only option.

    Cheers.

    Hi, SeattleRod,
I have same problem - seems to be common among T/bird owners.
I have not got around to buying one yet but according to what I've read these 'ABBA' stands seem the best solution.
They supply different attachments for individual bikes & work by lifting bike using swinging arm pivot points.
I have seen them on ebay & their own web site.Google 'ABBA bike stand' & demo videos appear.
Good luck & if successful let us all know.

    Septu,

Thanks, I'll check it out. Also, last night I found a rear paddock stand made by PitBull. According to them, it's made for the thunderbirds!
On their website is listed for $199.00 (£127.00) a little too steep for my wallet. I was going to contact them to make sure it works with the Storm before I go to my local Triumph dealer to see if they can work something out.

I can vouch for the ABBA stand. The adapters for the swingarm are not advertised on their website but Can be ordered over the phone (about £20). You need to remove the right hand engine cover that houses the water tank and then remove the two water tank nuts (no need to disconnect any piping) and move the tank to the side to gain access to the end of the swingarm bolt. I ty-wrap the tank to to an engine lug to keep it secure and avoid it getting damaged. Takes about 5 minutes. Then you can use the ABBA stand as intended. But be aware that there is a fair amount of weight to shift so you might require a friend to help - unless you are an 18 stone ex rugby player like myself who can do it on my own (just! But you will develop a 'knack' after a couple of uses.) Holds the bike nice and secure.
