Howdy folks - I have adjustable rear footpegs that I want to install.

But can someone tell me how to get the originals off?!

Attached is where I am - I've removed the circlip but how the hell do I remove that pin?
I've tried using a flathead screwdriver to try and prise it out - no joy.

I realise it's a pretty simple job, but is there a knack to it?

    What bike is it?
I think it comes out the other way so you need to tap it out

The direction it's facing is the only way it'll come out Rocker...

There is no access to the far side of that pin lads.
As I said, the way it's facing is the only direction it goes.

Ok so looking at the parts diagram again the grey cover ( detent plate - part 22 on the diagram ) should come off leaving you with the footrest itself, carefull not to loose the detent ball and spring, then the footrest should come off.

That detent plate may be seized in place if its been there since it was built so plenty of penetrating oil and some heat from a heat gun wouldn't go amiss, you may have to lever it off, try working both sides at once to avoid breaking the detent plate.

Maybe the rest will become clearer then on removing the pin.

The arrow is showing the position & angle of the Pin I'm trying to remove.
Would anyone have any idea what that is inside the circle?
Would it by any chance be some way of releasing the pin inside the unit?

Hey Oldyam - the detent plate won't move until the pin is removed.

The thing in the circle is a 3mm roll pin that you will need to tap out, you should be able to feel a corresponding hole behind the footrest casting.

You will need something about the right size with a flat end ( sawn off nail ? ) or a 3mm pin punch.

Would that roll pin go through the PIN and out the other side Oldyam? Basically preventing the PIN dropping out?
That could be my answer maybe!!

Maybe through the pin itself or tight through a groove on the side of the pin either would retain the main pivot pin, its hard to tell placement of the roll pin in relation to the other pin in the pic
