Got my insurance money in to replace my expensive learning experience earlier in the year and I am wanting to buy a new Bonneville. I am tempted by this

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/302016812382

Loving the fact it has a lot of mods I would likely end up paying for anyway and all the original parts for anything I would want to reverse.

If it doesn't go for much more than the starting price I'll take a punt but is there anything I should be aware of or concerned about before hand? I am pretty new to all this so take pity on a newbie like me.

Thanks for the info Dozers. Unfortunately I am pretty set on a black (or predominantly black) bike. They do generally seem to command a higher price. Also keen to get something driving distance of Glasgow so I can see it person and ride it home rather than have it delivered.

Think I'll wait for the auction to end then as you day I can enquire about his pain point price wise if it doesnt sell. We'll see.

Long and tiring ride back but she now resides north of the border

Deal was a good one and he was a genuinely nice chap. Very happy with the bike. Got all the original parts and I'll definitely hold on to them for now. Ace bars took a little getting used to but years of cycling mean I'm happy tucked low to the bike.

That's come along way from original area of first reg (HF), lived in bottom end of hampshire near the southern coast as mines a HF reg too. Not that anyone needed to know!

So difficult to get a single dram in an envelope though. Joking aside I owe you a drink if we cross paths down the line.

Yeah, it's on a steady trip north. Might need to continue the journey and take it round the NC500 at some point.

    Classic stuff :D

Well the bike was doing nicely, having already put 250+ miles on her, but the speedo just conked out. Assuming it's the cable so I've ordered another. Not so much worried about judging speed till it's fixed as judging distance between fuel stops with no odometer .
