Has anyone used this system with the Fork stem mount. On the GT Sprint there is zero room for a handlebar mount ( the dealer put a usb power hub in the one possible location ) so I was looking at the other options. However the top yolk nut is solid with no hole to insert such a mount. I've been looking for a replacement top nut without success so far .. and I don't want to be drilling the original. The RAM mount system looks similar in that the yolk nut would need to be replaced.. Thanks in advance for any tips/links

Look at www.telferizer.com they will supply a replacement top nut with a RAM mount in the centre. They may even do an exchange service for your top nut.
I have used them in the past and have been satisfied with the product and service.

I've just gone that route with my Thruxton - this thread might help you, particularly with regard to the headstock nut I sourced.

I made my own for my FJ1200. I just got a spare top yolk nut and a ram mount ball with a short thread and a nut (imperial sizes as their made in the US).

I put the standard top yolk nut back on when I sold the bike and intended to keep the ram ball for my next bike. However, I thought I'd put the setup on Ebay and it sold for way more than it cost me!

A word of warning about mounting your phone though. I have heard that solid mounting phones to motorbike bars can cause issues. It was covered in a "Front End Chatter" podcast recently.
    This one I think ... https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/news-and-views/features/podcasts/fec-episode-120
