Where the Wolds meet the sea
As summer starts to draw to a close (here in the Northern half of the planet) and the evenings and mornings get darker by the day, my thoughts are turning towards getting another project/heap of parts, to work on over the coming winter. In my case I haven't got a clue what that might be at the moment. I've tinkered with a few 70's and 80's bikes over the last few years and may well end up with another one from that era, but if it will be British, Japanese, Italian or from some other country of origin I don't know yet. It's whatever catches my eye at the right price I suppose?

That got me to thinking that there must be loads of you guys who do the same. So what have you got lurking at the back of your garage/shed/under a sheet at the end of the garden?

    (delete as applicable)

Where are you at with the project? Have you just got it? Is it nearly done, or are you somewhere in between? Perhaps you are waiting to get that elusive part you need to finish it off?

    Pictures would be good. [IMG]

My 85 year old fathers project (fathers 85 the bike is a mere 65) 1667E92E-7CFB-472B-89E9-B57F4760DEBF.jpeg

And my last project, completed 3 years ago, strangely I have no yearning to start another one yet :)

yes he’s doing well, but describes himself as having “one foot in the grave and the other on a banana skin”, so he’s restoring it a max speed before the inevitable happens!.

actually.... I have one of these... bought to do up...Yamaha XS750 C (not the usual D) the one with points still

but it's at the other end of the country and no room up here to store it... so i'm still thinking about doing it rather than actually doing..

I mostly stick with the 63-70 Triumph twins but they are getting harder to find so have resorted to doing work for customers to keep busy for now but still on the lookout for that bargain twin to build.

I've got a 1980 Honda CX500, which I'm putting on a weight loss diet. I was hoping to have it ready for this year's DGR, but that ship has now sailed.....again!

I remember being given one of those back in the day as a courtesy bike whilst my Jap 4 (can’t remember which one) was being serviced, gutless MZ I thought, gave it a handful as I pulled off and ended up on the pavement on the opposite side of the road, quite torquey for a 2 stroke :)
