After a lot of procrastination disguised as thinking about it, I've almost decided maybe definitely to sell my Tiger 800 - soon-ish. It won't be a trade-in, so any advice on eBay versus MCN vs other private sales channels, gotchas to look out for, tips etc would be welcome.

IF (that's a big if) I sell it, can I please stay on this forum, even if my other bike isn't quite a Triumph? It isn't an HD, but almost as bad.

If you are on Facebook, I sold my last bike on Facebook Marketplace without any hassle. That's all I've got for you I'm afraid :cool:

Yes and Gumtree I found quite good. There's also vivastreet but got quite a lot of scams from it. And don't leave the forum. The bike mater not we respect you and the input you have here. And who knows maybe you will have another Triumph later on.
    Regards
    Joe.

Plenty of scammers on Gumtree to look out for, especially if potential buyer wanting to use PP.

Bacefook seems to be THE place for selling these days. I assume (not being a social media user) that the potential to "name and shame" a bad seller is sufficient to make it a reasonably safe bet and it certainly has the advantage of reaching a potentially huge - and local - marketplace for free.

Price it right, describe it accurately and take decent pictures and it should sell, though the time of the year may work somewhat against you. Good luck with the sale and, yep, stick around - some of the inmates will enjoy ripping the piss out of whatever you buy to replace the Tiger!!;)

Cheers, though I won't be replacing the Tiger. I'm going from 2 bikes to 1 - I can't really justify 2 bikes. The Tiger is brilliant, and it has been the bike I go to for almost all trips. The other bike can be a handful if not ridden hard, isn't as practical or comfortable, and is getting long in the tooth (40k miles and 13 years old), but I just love it. It is so rewarding. If I do replace it eventually, it will be with another Triumph.

Yes 2006, though they didn't make them for very long (2 years?)
