Stopped at cafe for a break today, mate on a ZX10, set his alarm, with remote, said that he didn't think it had set properly.

On returning to bikes found that it had set but he could not disable it, called RAC then when back to cafe for a bowl of soup, very nice it was to, waitress said that it was the telecom mast outside cafe causing problem and if we pushed bike down road it would start, he then had a call for RAC telling him to do the same.

It worked, rolled bike about 1/2 mile down hill and all was ok, apparently it has been known to have to go right to bottom.

Apparently this is a known problem with alarms on bikes, very occasionally cars as well.

Happens to me only on my st3 this has the datatool alarm.

Used to be able to roll it away a few yards and then the alarm would disarm.
They've raised the telephone mast height and now have more receivers on. I'm almost back to the start finish before it starts now lol :(:(

My Bonnie has the Datatool S4 fitted from new.
Before buying the bike I was reading all sorts of stories that nearly made me have it removed.
Fortunately it has been 100% okay but I am still wary of parking up by any electrical masts for fear of it 'playing up'
Glad you have mentioned about moving the bike away from the mast, I suppose it all depends on the electrical interference field for how far you have to move it.
Still a right pisser though having to do it, and could well ruin a good day out.
I hate the fact that it might just happen!

Yep, has happened fer years now, I only live about 9 miles away. happened to me at Santander port. Drove off ferry and past check point, then stopped to put rain gear on. Helpful Spanish said get that bike off here so we can close gate! Pushed it out of port and hey presto of she went. Could only put it down to same thing as cafe.

Had a similar problem with a hire car I had for work. Parked up, locked it but when I returned I couldn't unlock the car with the remote. Using the key worked but this didn't turn of the immobiliser so the engine wouldn't start.

Called the hire company who sent the AA/RAC who, being local, told me it was the nearby mast and got his A frame towing bar out and towed me round the corner where everything started working again.

I to thought it had been resolved, used to happen on my old gixer.....
Went up last week on my speed for the first time and guess what! Yes, I had to do the push of shame while the alarm was going off. Much to the amusement of my mates, guess I ain't rushing to go back up there.

I had exactly the same at that Cafe with a Datatool S4. Had the problem the year before at Sutton Hoo so was pretty sure that pushing the bike down the road would solve the problem.
