simple question. 54 plate triple 955i. Check oil with dip stick screwed right in or just dipped without screwing it in home?

Fully in is what I would think. upright with plenty of time for oil to settle

I'd go for dipstick not screwed in. Must be in handbook though?

Surely the answer to this relates to the instructions for doing an oil-change. The correct level-checking method will be specified there, but tbh the actual method is not as critical as ensuring on a regular basis that the level hasn't changed .

'02 Daytona 955i requires dipstick to be fully screwed in to check oil level (well mine did) - same as on my Trident 900.

Is this a Triumph thing??

cheers guys, i don't have the manual and couldn't find it anywhere online, shows nothing on the dip stick unscrewed but on the full mark screwed in. just making sure it was actually full and not running with a wee dribble, i know my honda 4rt trials bike was screwed in so could be a danger of over filling if u didn't know. cheers guys
