Calm down, just kidding....however if you are planning driving on the continent, you need to be aware that the GB mark on your number plate is no longer valid. We are now identified as UK, as notified to the United Nations, no less.

So avail yourself of something like these maybe, I got them off Amazon for £2.50. Stick on the end of your plate :)

Well, I got my car out of Spain using the above mentioned stickers. Wouldn't have been a problem anyway TBH. However, given the likelihood of people zooming off sur le continent next year, I thought I'd update and share this with you-our builder/handyman is British but resident in Spain, and he told us one or two tales that you might want to be aware of:
As before, make sure you have your V5C and a print out of your insurance certificate with you at all times. Spain is strapped and anything that can attract a fine is likely to do so. They've been told by the EU to reinstate their recently changed autopistas to charging-all been made free apparently, otherwise no hand outs. A guy got nicked 200 Euros for driving with his arm out the car window. Not easy on a bike of course... but you get my drift.
I didn't even know that it's a legal requirement to have a bell on your bicycle-you'd be unlucky but 80 Euros if a jobsworth collars you.
So it looks like you need to be whiter than white now. My guess would be the French will be more stringent, so be sure what's required. Happily I didn't have to come back through France and give the fuckers any of my money. Don't want to sound like a party pooper, but "let's be careful out there" :)

It’s gonna feel weird, last time I drove on the continent was 2018… been itching to get back, but there’s gonna be loads of this type of BS that have altered since I last went.
No worries… 2022 should see me and my family over there (we like France, so that’s our default country)

Wasn’t it Boris who wanted this to change? Or at least the Uk gov? I personally never cared what was on somebody’s number plate.

Number plate isn’t the issue… being fined for having my arm out the window would be the pisser!:laughing::laughing:
