Not An Oil Question Per Say

I’ve just bought a 2022 Speedmaster. Trying to get the bike positioned properly to look into the sight gauge. Ok got that figured out. However when I’m sitting on the bike and open the oil filler cap and look into the case it looks dry. Is this normal? With the bike upright the oil in sight glass is within normal limits.
