Not a good end to the weekend for someone.

Not content with spending the day surrounded by bikes at Loomies and then Bishops Waltham, I decided to go for an evening run out to Avebury via Marlborough to make the most of the sunny weather.
On the return journey saw a bloke knelt by his bike in what looked like the entrance to a school and so pulled over to see if I could help. I realised that this might not exactly be possible when I saw the expanding pool of (very black) oil below the bike and the chain stretched out behind it. His chain had broken with enough force to split part of the casing and to shear off the two bolts holding the hydraulic clutch release housing and to almost slice his number plate in two.
Stayed with him until his two mates, who had carried on ahead, came back for him - needless to say they just took the piss about fixing it with cable ties!
We agreed that it was lucky it had happened within the 30 mph limit and not a few miles further down the A303. Bike was a 58 plate V strom 1000.

 

Maybe not judging by the colour of the oil!

 

Felt really sorry for him - and he was so cheerful!
