Rode home from Leicester tonight, noticed at 1930hrs bright orange lights in the sky either side of the sun.
The sky was blue with little cloud, anyone else see these bright patches in the sky?
    Vanished by 2000hrs.

Could it have been a solar halo, that’s a circular “rainbow” around the sun, sometimes they can be incomplete giving a view similar to what you describe. Tweet Paul the weather man, he’ll know.

Observed with the naked eye or through a visor/lens? Could have been man made!

This sounds about right to me.
Mrs Curly reckoned there was a whole circle around the sun but I couldn't see that, just 2 bright orange patches either side of it but not too close to it.
I saw it prior to putting helmet on with naked vision, very interesting it was.

Ever tried the whacky Backy. It has similar effects well so I am led to believe.
