Hello all again, cold winter days and I fancy getting out in the garage and fitting some nice sounding Norman Hyde pipes, easy job to do, and hopefully my pride and joy will have a nice sound. Now the problem, the advert for the pipes states that there will be lots of popping and that the ECU will have to be mapped, now it sounds a big job as I am not going to fool around with ECUs, ( know your limitations) Really I have to ask is it worth it??? thanks all mallywoods
For £450 on an oldish bike? No...... £190 maybe https://www.feked.com/hinckley-triumph-bonneville-premium-vickers-silencers-complete-kit.html I am biased. It is what I did with no regrets.
Thanks, never realised this firm existed, I've been in touch with them asking if they would fit me 2011 T100 EFI. Did you have to remap your ECU when you fitted them, Do you have much popping???
I also have the Vickers silencers on my 790 Carb Bonneville, better perfomance and much better sound, without being annoyingly loud. The only changes I made were AIS removal, K&N filter, and fitted larger jets (not applicable to you).
I had to remap mine and remove the air injection gubbings after fitting norman hyde pipes to mine. Yes, yes, yes it's worth it. What a fabulous growl they had once everything was sorted. They can, geddit, be too noisy for some, but I loved 'em. I ran the bike standard after fitting the NH togas, but the popping and banging on the over run and when starting the bike was getting embarrassing. It used to frighten those of a nervous disposition. It's not a big job to get remapped or to remove the sai. If I can do it, a thick brummie, any one can.
I've fitted the NH peashooters to my 2011 SE and I love them the quality is second to none. To start with I removed the SAI which reduced the popping back on over run but didn't get rid completely, however after removing the 02 Sensors it rarely pops back, it still does it a bit from time to time particularly with the throttle closed going down hill but it's a more gentle popping rather than a loud continual popping. I tried different maps with little success and reloaded the original map because it ran the best. Just make sure you do a reset adaptation of the ECU, this can be done with TuneECU as can switching off SAI and 02. When I can be arsed I'm gonna get a TTP tune for my config.. hopefully.
