Yesterday morning I reached my office and found a nail in my rear tire. I did with this tire-set 4.500 km and would have rode many more with it.:(

As I unfortunately already have experience with this situation, I didn't touch it. I called some local dealers, but was not successful to get a new Continental Road Attack 4 tire. Therefore I called my friend, a dealer in the north of my province. I was lucky. He was just about to mount his last new tire on his own bike. We made a short-term appointment and in the early afternoon I rode to his facility. This ment additional 300 km to my yesterdays office ride.
After half an hour my bike was finished and I was able to ride back home. The most interesting part was to unmount the super hot exhaust.
After another 220 km and minus €230.- in my pocket I arrived at home.;)

@Armando Morales: It is forbidden to repair a puncture on a bike's tire here in Austria. No official mechanic will do it.

What about if you already have had a repair and are riding in Austria but originate from uk?

Does that mean you cannot use one of the roadside repair kits that insert a plug?

@Tigcraft: This wouldn't be a problem normally. Only in the case of an accident the insurances will occur with problems for locals, not for tourists.

@Pegscraper: I have two sets for our bikes. In case of an international ride I would use it. But back at home I must change the tire to keep my insurance active. I did this with my Honda, when I had a puncture in Bosnia. A quick repair there and a change of my tire back at home.

On that note I myself have just bought a tyre changer as it more cost effective as I’ve got lots of bikes and need plenty swaps and buy nearly new used tyres. I actually tested it for the first time but it was a 205/55/16 van tyre!!
It worked but obviously it wasn’t for that huge size

Am I on the wrong forum here? I thought this was a Triumph forum.
BMW design never has been easy for the owner. So I'm jot surprised you have to remove half the bike to get the wheel out.

No you're not but just because someone has now changed their bike doesn't mean they cannot continue to post in the forum

Eh? I thought rapid rear wheel removal is/was supposed to be THE main benefit of a single sided swingarm? It was on my Ducati 1198 but then it did have under seat chimneys.

@blacktiger: As I wrote in my other post. The 4 Triumphs are sold now and we changed to bikes of other manufacturers. May be there will be a change back to Triumphs in the future.;)
