Joined as I have just bought a 2014 Explorer XC with all the bells and whistles and looking forward to my first big adventure on it in 8 weeks time when I start at the top of Wales and work my way down through Snowdonia, Pembrokeshire and then across the Brecons!
Thanks guys....looking forward to the change from a Harley. Owned Aprilia RSVRs for 10 years along with a KTM Super Duke II, so this is a complete change. Prior to that, it was Guzzi's, Ducati's, Kawasaki's, and FL1100, one fireblade, a couple of Boxer twins, a Super-Ten', and Triumph Trident 750 and an old XL sportstser. Lost count of the miles put up many years ago but have enjoyed every mile on 2 wheels...except for a late 90's Harley Sportster, which was the biggest pile of junk ever to come off a production line! My last late model Sporty was superb by comparison.
Thanks guys and especially to Littleade for the warning...I'll be taking it careful when in North Wales! The police seem to use use a good deal more discretion here so you're not constantly having to be glued to the speedo (I wish a HUD was available for bikes!).
Thanks DD. Bike arrived yesterday. Put up a fair few miles on it in the afternoon which instantly showed up some changes needed (bars were too far forwards....screen needed lifting to highest setting). What can I say....simply awesome bike! Handling is unbelievably good...front brake is a little spongey so it could do with some braided hose lines but other than that, what a great machine. It came in stunning condition for the age, even had just had a full service including valve check by the previous mechanic owner who'd looked after her. New tyres, (Anakees), new pads, fresh fluids (all). Heavy old bus but on the go it's great, I even managed some tame off-road with it yesterday.
Welcome in mate, sounds like an epic trip you have planned, don't forget to report back with pictures as you go.
Will do! Remus exhaust fitted today...apparently it won't need any mapping changes which is a relief.
