Still kicking here: riding continuously since the 60’s. Bought a 71 Bonneville in 72- rode it for 30 years and gave it to my son! Ridden everything- sold my 2016 Thunderbird Storm last year because it was too heavy. Picked up a 70 Bonneville for a daily ride. Keep tripping over 71’s, even though I’m not a big fan of OIF bikes, so I figured I should try and rebuild one for old times!! Not a mechanic- but learning as I go. Can use some technical help, and moral support!
the OIF machines got a bad rap. theyre stiffer and handle as well or better than the dryframes. but the 70 T120s are still beautiful machines put up pitchers
Hi Mate and welcome. Put your questions on here, there is plenty of knowledge and help here. Good luck
Turns out the high main gear And second gear aren’t meshing properly- took apart tranny and primary. Gears look good and go together fine. Bushing on high gear has some ridging- could it just be a bushing? Main bearing? Shaft!!
