Hi John  Might be worth losing your postcode for a slightly more generic location ;)

Hi and welcome to the forum . I had a 650 Daytona - loved it. Eventually sold to a friend and still see it on a regular basis. As far as I’m aware the 600 Daytona engine is a straight swap if you can’t find a replacement 650.

Hi John. agree with Helmut. Always good to be careful.

That being said, I had to take a look, lol. That's a lonely road I have driven but seldom. Despite having lived north of you for several years and regularly travelling to Aberdeen from the south. I'm also up in the Highlands on the bike at least once a year coz I love it and I have friends and family, but generally go through Perth. Back in the day I did kayak down the Findhorn in the spring melts, that was always fun and I had a shredded wetsuit for my labours, :)

..as for your engine, best to look on gumtree etc. Facebook marketplace comes up with random stuff, but be careful of scammers. Before all this tech was about I once had to travel to Ullapool to get a VW camper engine off a ferry. Hopefully it will be easier for you these days. You are out in the sticks, so I hope you have the ability to drive and pick it up from more populated areas that are more target rich. A quick search on ebay and I found at least half a dozen.
Happy Travels and Lang may the wind blay up yer kilt...
