Not so much of a newbie as a returner!! Nearly 60 year old and now come to my senses and retiring in the early part of next year. Looking to buy a TRIUMPH twin either a 790 or an 860 but must admit I do prefer the carb models. Thought I would join the forum as this is where to find the advice. Would love to hear from any one selling a twin as I have the money waiting but please remember I am a yorkshireman so probably a tight git!!! Joking apart, if you know any one selling a bike please tell them to get in touch. Jeff

Hi and welcome you tight Yorkie git :wink:

I'm a tight Lankie old git, the tight bit being from my Yorkie ancestry

    Can you refine your wants?

The list of twins would cover a Bonnie, a Thruxton, a Speedmaster and an America.

They are very different in ride, comfort and handling so if you have not ridden any of them recently do give them a test run.

Hi Jeff and welcome to the forum.

I would agree that the carbed models are the best bet

    Cheers

Right as to what I am looking for it's either a bonnie or a thruxton, not keen on the cruiser/custom look so just trying to find out what is for sale. Max price is 4k but will be interested in what is offered.

Now if you go the Bonnie route the next question is:-

To be or not to be, that is the question, wether it is nobler to ....go for wire or alloys.

It makes a difference in ride and handling so you will just have to bite the bullet and test ride both, ...... Its so hard work deciding on the bike for you.

Remember the saying,..... a Bonnie is for life......so chose wisely

That's a no brainer, got to be spoked wheels unless a cart wheel is at a price you can't refuse!!!

Send a PM to 'Oppy. He is selling his Bonnie which looks nice. Based in Glossop or thereabouts. (Assuming him to be the same person as on another UK based Triumph forum.)
