Hi there, just joined this Triumph forum, where I hope to find help, useful tips and wisdom when I am desperate.
But first, let me introduce myself. I am Ludo, 59, Belgian, living in Overpelt, in the north of our country, with the Dutch border just a few miles away.
I have been enjoying my retirement for 4 years now, after 36 years in the military. Now I command myself to do the housekeeping whilst my wife goes to work. She often states that my retirement is one of the happiest events in her life :)
I started biking at age 18 and I owned several motorcycles: Kawasaki KLX125, Yamaha DT400, Honda XR500, Suzuki 550GT, Honda NTV650 Deauville, BMW K1200 LT, Honda XL1000V Varadero, BMW R1200 GS Adventure and since July 2016 a Triumph Tiger Explorer. My average yearly mileage is about 25K Km.
Besides driving , I also like to service my bikes myself. So far this was a reasonable succes, but the Triumph scares me a bit. It is technically quite complex and you need to strip it quite heavily when you want access its "interiors". It is, let us say, more labor intensive than the other bikes I owned before. But with time I hope that I will get used to that and that nothing will stand in the way of an "intimate" relationship between my "Tiger" and me.
Besides bikes, I am interested in computers, internet, cooking and most of all volleyball. I coach a women's team in first division which consumes most of my energy and of my spare time from August to April. I use the bike as often as possible to get to the training sessions. Functionality meets hobby, so to speak.
The months May, June and July are mainly spent travelling through Europe, of which we have visited most countries. We regularly cross the Channel, since my son and my brother both live in the UK.
Hm, I got somewhat carried away, I fear. Time to stop before someone gets bored to death :)

    Hi you all.
Thanks for the warm welcome. If I can be of any assistance regarding travelling on the "mainland", feel free to ask. I'll try to provide a useful answer.
It sounds as if I am quite busy, but as a day counts 24 hours, I still have some time left to plant my a... sorry... my behind in the couch, you know :)
But I will leave for now: the weather is nice here today, I will go for a spin.
    Cheers
