Like the title says, I'm new to the forum, but not to Triumph. Started with my first Triumph back in 2000, a yellow TT600. In 2003, I sold it and grabbed a Daytona 955i. I kept that until 2012 when I sold it and picked up a new Kawi Z1000. Sold the Kawi a few weeks ago and picked up a brand new 2022 Speed Triple 1200 RS right before Thanksgiving. Already have a bunch of parts to change out, so looking forward to getting the mods done. I'm just south of Atlanta, GA and just a couple of hours away from the north GA mountains. We own a cabin near Fontana Dam, NC, about 12 miles from Deal's Gap (The Dragon), so we spend quite a bit of time on some really good twisty roads. Hope to see some of you out and about. Here's a pic of how she sits now.
Cap' n Dave Welcome to the family. Cracking looking bike. And a great intro. The inmate here in the asylum will love the colour. Black is one of the favourite colours. Joe.
The north Georgia mountains, along with the mountains in western North Carolina and Tennessee, provide so many great roads to ride.
@Cap'n Dave Greetings, Dave, and welcome to the forum! Wow, what a great photo of that new Speed Triple RS. Beautiful fall colors. I've never ridden the Dragon but from what I've read and heard, your new Speedy should be super fun to ride there. I have a 2019 Speed Triple RS and, although I'm not really thinking about trading for the newer model, I am interested in your thoughts on the bike. Perhaps you could share bit of a review on the Speed Triple forum here .
The little bit that I have ridden so far, the bike is excellent. Handling reminds me a little of the street Triple RX that my friend has. Brakes are superb. Fantastic initial bite with a very progressive feel. Caught me off guard, a little, after riding my Z1000 for almost 10 years with steel lines and upgraded pads. The Brembos are a huge step up. Those are my initial takes on the bike, as I still have very few miles on it, so I haven't opened it up yet. With the mild winters here in GA, I hope to get the miles up there pretty quick, so that when we go to our cabin in February, I can hopefully let it rip. I will be installing several mods this weekend, so updated pics coming soon. I will also be changing tires soon as the Metzelers are garbage in the cold.
