    Hi All
New to this forum and Triumphs, but finally swapping my SV650S tonight for a Thruxton! Looking forward to its arrival and the burble of those Arrow exhausts around the Lincolnshire lanes.
Will post more once we have bonded!
    Cheers
    David

Hi Creaky and welcome to the forum. Very nice looking Thruxton there buddy.

There are a number of popular modifications to these bikes that can be made to run them better - what year is yours, Efi or carbs?

    Cheers

The bike is a 2008 fuel injected model.

Finally managed to get out on my new (to me) Thruxton today. I never had a test ride but was pleased to find that she met all my expectations. Smooth, plenty of power for real world riding and the sound of the Arrow pipes was quite addictive.

Spent a bit of time whilst waiting for the rain to clear this morning fitting my Kriega straps and the like and giving her a coat of Autoglym, checking the suspension settings and tyres pressures. The bike's only covered 5000 miles from new and whilst there's the odd bit of corrosion on things like the front mudguard bracket and rear reflector which I shall tackle with a bit of prep and satin black paint the overall condition is excellent. Dealer fitted me a new rear tyre and changed the oil, filter, etc. and advised that I ran a couple of tanks of Shell V Power fuel through to clean the system due to the low use.

Still getting to know the bike and considering minor adjustments to control positions, etc. but overall I'm delighted with my bike.

    Nice! Beware rust on
The front spokes particularly near the rim. Toothbrush time

Thanks for the tip but already on it. Overall clean and then wipe them over with light oil. Used to have a Moto Guzzi Bellagio so developed a routine!

Hi Dodge I am close to the Notts./Lincs. border in Retford. The picture was taken in Budby, a village on the A616 between New Ollerton and Worksop. Whereabouts are you? I see Lincs in your signature. Do you ever get over to Willingham Woods?

I'm from Lincoln , and yes , pop up to Willingham woods , dont often go on the wednesday night though because there's usually something else on at either south leverton or moortown or wherever so just tend to pop into willy woods for a cup of tea and a chat with someone when passing , there's some lovely roads up that way . Then there's the Saxilby bikers who meet in the Anglers every other tuesday night . I bought my bike from Retford as it happens

Dodge, Don't know your area all that well but if your looking for a really good mechanic to work on your bike I would recommend Clive Wood who is based near Boston. Most probably the most experienced Hinckley Triumph Mechanic in the U.K.
Well worth giving him a call on 07752 477738.

    Cheers

    Steve

thanks for that Steve , my parents live near Boston , that's handy to know actually , I do most of the service and routine work on my bikes myself but the more technical things are sometimes better left to an expert
