    Hi
I have just bought a 05 Sprint non-runner, see attached.
It last ran in 2013 when it died and coasted to the hard shoulder of the M40, no clutch was used so poss gearbox failure.
Will be looking for tech tips and help, and offer help where I can.

    Cheers
    Rob

Hello XT, welcome to the Triumph mad house where everyone is nuts.
If the engine is a non runner, it maybe worth getting a replacement engine, even if it isn't exactly right, you could use it for practice or for parts rather than a direct replacement

Aesthetically your Sprint looks in good nick, how many miles had it done?

Yea was thinking it maybe easier to buy a running engine, seen a few on eBay for around £500. Paid £250 for the bike with matching panniers.
    Mileage is approx 24k.

:D£250 that is bloody fantastic, even if you just use it for bits!!
Mileage isn't too bad, it will be interesting for the rest of us to find out what the problem was.

To be honest, installing a running engine is the best route, then dissect the old one and sell the good bits and make double your money!

Where did you find that bike?

Just noticed my typo on the thread title, should have been 'to the', sorry about that.
It belonged to a work mate and been sat in his garage since, it's got a full tank of fuel as he had just filled it up before of went pop, it'll need draining as I think it'll be too old to use now.
Gonna hit eBay for a motor but off to France for 10 days next week on my Super Tenere so nothing being done until I get back and sell one of my XT500s as need to room for this bike.

Do you know what year engines will fit the 55 model as there is an 07 engine on eBay for good money?

Also, will an engine from an ABS model fit a non ABS bike?
    Thanks.

Not sure on that, I know about the speed triples with the 1050 engine changing 2005 to 2010, then a new engine from 2011
It may be worth looking for a workshop manual (or Haynes) for your bike and check when the serial numbers change for engine compatibility
