    Hi everyone,

So picked up my new bike (yay), after a couple of Daytona 675s, and had a bit of a play.

I also got some ACF-50 too.

Generally, my bikes are not garage queens, so get exposed to way more dirt and weather than they should, and way less cleaning too to be honest.

So beside the exhausts and the foot-guard thing, what else should I spray? Basically anything metallic that isn't a brake disc?

Hi And Welcome in, nice bike, quite a change from a 675 'Tona!
You pretty much answered your own question, spray everything metal except the discs, and electrics would benefit from a squirt too.

Thanks, I will use it liberally!

It is a lot different to the Daytona (which I loved). Great noise (even with standard pipes), comfortable riding position, nice looks, and it handles imperfect tarmac. So far so good.

Taking it on a work trip tomorrow, and then off to the Ace Café on Sunday with luck.

Not too difficult with this warm weather we've been having but make sure the can is warmed up before you apply it otherwise acf50 is harder to apply. I keep my can in the airing cupboard!

Spray some ACF on a microfibre cloth (and keep the cloth in a plastic bag) after each wash a quick wipe down of headers and potential area that will tarnish, will keep everything neatly protected and stops it being sprayed everywhere. It is also very good on plastics, particularly black, it gives it a nice sheen.

+1, have a cloth specifically for applying, and use that to spread around, cos the spray is a bit crap. I also Ave an 1"brush I keep for use as well. I don't put on plastic or shiny painted bodywork, but everywhere else.

Newbie to bikes, ordered some of this magic stuff, should I coat the painted bits or not. I get not to go near brakes, tyres, seat and grips, but led to believe all else is game?

    Sounds like the consensus is:
    * Non-painted metal (apart from brakes)
    * It can also be used on plastics, but isn't needed necessarily for protection.

Guess I am out shopping for a microfibre cloth this weekend!

Leave the ACF off the painted parts Reepoh. If you put it on any engine/exhaust parts it will smoke when it gets warm but soon burns off.

One of these is useful for getting it into those hard to reach places.

Bear in mind that ACF50 is an oil and will creep in to the hard to reach places, so no need to gloop it on, just a fine covering over any metal likely to tarnish except brake discs.
