Hi all, I'm new to naked bikes but love my Speed Triple. It's in such good knick I forget it's a 14 year old bike. I therefore may need some tips to keep it in good shape.
Hi matey and welcome in. My speedie is older than yours but love it to pieces. Pics are compulsory or it isn't yours. Lol
Tips for new Speed Triple owners - grease up the concentric hub, the rear wheel hub doesn't get adjusted often and usually isn't given much grease loving by the factory, so when you can, take apart the rear hub and put a good layer of copper slip on the hub and also - grease the suspension linkages/dog bones. Same reason being factory was a bit shy with the grease and they usually dry up and seize - front lights can be a bit dim, Amazon search for Wisamic led lights as these are direct plug and go replacement lights but 10 times better - front fender extender, protects your radiator from road crap - louder horn, replace the factory mouse fart with an air horn be heard rather than not - get the suspension set up for your weight and riding style. Nitron rear shock and linear front springs, it will cost you a few ton£ but worth it - if you think the engine could be running smoother, Drop in a nice dose of RedX, this will clear the fuel system of and petrol residue and spring clean the jets. - if it has been sitting a while, replace coolant, fork oil and oil in the engine - Speed Triples tend to run hot on the temp guage, 5/8 bars. This is normal, 6/8 bars in hot weather Ride and enjoy
Looks pristine for 14 years old ! Just the kind of thing I am after. Welcome to the forum, ride safely.
