Bought myself a triumph buckle a while back,it got me thinking i would make a belt for it, I've never made anything from leather before so decided to get a local guy to show me the ropes for a few days.
i also made a wallet, key ring, bracelet, and a wee tub. well chuffed with my first attempt, it will give me something to do during the long winter months

Thanks for the positive comments :), I enjoyed making the wallet and the belt the most, i had been practicing saddle stitching beforehand on some old bits of leather (saddle stitching is using a thread with a needle on both ends) the wallet took the longest to make, starting with cutting all the bits out from a Cow Hide for the front of the wallet and Goat Skin for the inside bits, i then traced the design for the front of the wallet off a picture on a computer screen then you have to wet the leather and trace the design onto the leather then carve the design which takes a while (you have to do this when the leather is slightly damp), i then lightly glued all the bits of the wallet together in stages, before sewing it all together, after that i dyed the wallet (everything was the same colour as the bracelet to begin with) then when it was dry i burnished the edges then gave it a good waxing and polish, it probably took me a day and a half to make the wallet! and a couple of days to make the rest, the hardest part was sewing the leather base for the little tub:sob:, also the key ring with the Triumph logo being so small i found it hard to make it neat.
After finding out how much it is to buy a quality hide and the time that it takes me, it will just be a hobby as the price I'd have to charge would be silly money
