Hi guys I need a new chain . After my last ride out in December I washed the bike dried it as best I could and put it away . After taking the cover off this week to get the alarm changed I noticed how bad my chain had rusted up. Yes I ment to go back in the day after I washed it with a can of WD40 but obviously forgot !!
Anyway after giving the bike another rigorous clean yesterday and trying to clean the chain I've decided to get a new one as this looks like it's been on the titanic . Where's best to buy one, what's best and what's recommended by you guys.

Buy Branded. DID, EK, RK Regina, Tsubaki etc.
Avoid cheap chains. buy cheap, buy twice or at worse case wreck the motor and possibly your leg

Hi Jonesy, re chain maintenance - if you clean your chain with WD-40 there is a good chance it will get past the O-rings and wash out the factory-installed grease and therefore ruin your chain. It has 50% refined mineral spirits in it.

    Correct Dave.

I've known people use it to lubricated locks, luggage, ignition etc thinking it will lubricated them when all it will do is remove any lubricant already there.

I've use WD40 as a degreaser on small parts for my classics, does a good job.

Buy a good quality set of chain and sprockets, keep em clean and lubricated and they will last many thousands of miles. Buy a cheap set, or put a new chain on old sprockets and you will be shopping again before you know it.

I got me some last weekend, bought their cleaner too, it smells a lot like the Motorex products I use on my Ktm's chain. Will give it a try and see.
