Well she's here. And yes, she's not a Triumph, but I believe she is nevertheless a triumph.





She's a 2018 Yamaha Tracer 700. The motor is a liquid cooled, parallel twin with a 270° crankshaft. 75 bhp, 51 ft.lbs (68nm) of torque at 6000rpm. (sound familiar?)

She pulls well in 6th gear from 2000rpm so is very flexible.

But the single best thing for me is the she weighs in at 195kgs ready for the road with a full tank of juice. So light and flickable - yes even with me onboard !!!

She currently has 47 kms on the clock (has 2 when I first picked her up) so still very tight, but even so she's only using 4ltrs per 100 kms (about 70 mpg)

Happy days.......................can't wait to get back to the Alps.

I've been looking more actively since coming back from Italy because the Tiger 955i was too heavy overall and carried it's weight too high. The tiger has a dry weight of 215 kgs so with all fluids and a full tank it comes in at 245 kgs.

This bike is 50 yes 50 kgs lighter !!!!!

As some of you may know I was absolutely lusting after a T120 but with a dry weight of 224 kgs that wasn't going to take me where I wanted to go, plus over here it would have cost me 13,000 euros. The Tracer cost me an on the road price of 8 grand. I very much liked the Tiger 800 but it was also a lot more money and heavier.

I'd had the Tiger up for sale since Italy and was sold to a charming lady with the longest legs I've every seen on anything other than a giraffe, so the Tiger went on weds and the Tracer came home on saturday.

She (Trixie) has now done about 100 kms so brakes and tyres are scrubbed-in, so weather permitting I'll be mainly RIDING !!!!

 

I did try the 900 Ade but honestly I didn't get on with it. Not sure why overall - it did suffer from bad, bad vibes though - perhaps it is more a matter of me now recognising a specific problem I wanted to solve ???

Honestly Ade it feels really great !!! I thought I was going to have trouble sleeping BEFORE picking up Trixie, but now she's here I don't think I'll sleep again til I've got some REAL miles on her.
