Hopefully Triumph will get their fingers out of the arse's and get a new America/Speedmaster produced soon.

What old bits would you like to see carried over and which of the new stuff would you like to see???

    1200 ??? Bhp ??? Riding modes ???

I for one would like to see a 1200 with somewhere around 85-90 bhp. Not too much to go into T-Bird territory, but a wee bit more for 2 up overtakes. Also like the idea of ABS etc, again for 2-up riding. Doubt I would make much use of riding modes tho.

Never know if the bods at Triumph have a look in and see what we would like!

I would like to see a 1200cc twin in America guise too ! But I'd put money on it have a new Locked ECU ! And I wouldn't want to see that !!! My 2008 America produces somewhere in the vicinity of 80hp after dyno tuning and big bore kit (904cc) also ported the head whilst it was stripped down, as the standard porting was shocking ... With all the anti this and that removed its a half decent engine for an air cooled twin. Just hope the new motor can be tweeked as I tow a 200kg camper trailer (when fully loaded) in standard trim with only 51hp @ the rear wheel it really struggled and over taking was restricted to dog carts and one poney trap carts .

People say/ask why tow well the simple answer - you can carry everything you could want or need for a rally/holiday/tour ... And in a quick easy disconnect/unload you have two wheels back, no 1/2 hour unstrapping/unloading and no scratching or damaged bike from overloading.

a new speedmaster with the 1200 engine, the return of twin front brake discs and slap on the older type fork shrouds to beef the front end up a bit and i'd buy one in an instant.

For me an America with 1200cc, good dollops of torque so about 100 n/m; twin discs up front and abs - that'll do nicely.

    Hi Dozer,
My 2008 America was made in those sweat shops (Thailand) I have had no issues arising from place of build, all the parts are made elsewhere ! John Bloor promised he would keep pricing stable and low, I didn't think he would do it by cutting back on the quality of the parts like that ! At least if you are aware of the year models where the foot controls were moved, you can buy genuine extended or shortened reach controls ? Always good to find a positive in today's world eh !!

    Hi Dozer,
I think it's all related to Globalization, how many Vehicle manufacturing companies are now still owned by the original owner ! At least Triumph is owned by a British Citizen. Triumph source many parts from the best manufacturers of those parts. Crank shafts from Germany in the Early T300's. They were spun up out of nearly molten steel !
    Cheers Mick

I have a 2005 Speedmaster. Out of curiosity, how can I find out where it was made / built?

Thanks for the reply DD. I'll take a look........... I seem to remember reading something on Triuphnet about the letters identifying country of build, but some other guys said it was not correct????

Anyway, thanks again for the reply
