    Hi there,

I'm in the progress of building a motorbike touring business in the Alps and wanted to tap into your cumulative competence as to where to advertise. Hope this obvious plug and cry for help abides by forum rules. If not feel free to delete

As I spent the last 17 years in Germany I'm pretty out of touch with biking stuff in UK, having put all my energy into the Alps and neighbouring countries.

I've done some work on my website and do internet advertising on google and bing but apart from the odd visitor who does scroll through the whole site there isn't really a lot of customer generation (mind, only been doing it for a couple of weeks).

Now the question comes to mind whether to advertise in UK mags and if so, in which ones?

I'd also be most interested in any other tips you lot may have.

Many thanks in advance for your advice and your time!

    Cheers,

    Ingo

If it's just a small start up, I don't think you can go far wrong with social media. Instagram. Twitter. Plan it. Update regularly. Make sure you've got plenty of good quality content. It may seem a little slow to start, but when you start to get followers, it can quickly gather some momentum.
Also found the free emailing software good. MailChimp provides plenty of free mail shots & the analytics are useful. Gather some emails via social media & then use mailchimp to target offers etc.

Have a look at www.bauermadia.co.uk or www.mortonsmediagroup.com as these two seem to the main publishers in the UK. Motorcycle Sport and Leisure (Mortons) does focus on the touring aspect of biking a bit more than most.
    Good luck with it all!:)

+1 for Motorcycle Sport and Leisure as the mag to read if you're interested in Euro touring.

Word of mouth from satisfied customers is always the best and slowly build
There does seem to be an awful lot of competition with people like yourself turning their passion for biking into a business.
Good luck, if it doesn't work out you can always get a proper job like the rest of us. lol

    Cheers for all replies!

As I'm a Fb dyslexic I've got serious trouble getting to like this horrible piece of software but it seems there is no way round it.

I've also added some interactive non-intrusive pop-ups to prompt people to ask questions and get their email addresses off them :D

Fb does have some great targeted advertising which is also relatively cheap compared to google and bing.

Any feedback on the site is also more than welcome.
