    Hello All,

My name is Frank and i am 58 from The Netherlands.
    just got my first Triumph.
It is a 1996 Trophy 1200 in beautifull blue.
It had 97.000 km on it and after a month i am on 102.000.So i really am liking it.
Had some problems with the front suspension but after putting thicker oil in it it is better.
Only problem i still have is that e.g.riding 100km/h and acellerating fast the bike seems to run on two cylinders
or so it feels. After revving it up to 5 a 6000rpm the power is back on and it takes of like a rocket.(like it should)
Any suggestions would be very helpfull.

    kind regards

    frank

Welcome Frank. I'm sure someone will be along soon to answer your query. You could also post in the Trophy section.

p.s. don't forget to post some photos.

Sounds like air or fuel starvation, check the air filter is new/clean, fuel filter if you can reach/see it.
Maybe a look at the spark plugs, if they are old as new set may bring a spark of new life to the motor
You could run some cleaning additive in with the fuel to clean up the innards.

    Hi Frank and welcome.
I agree with Red Thunder's suggestions. I regularly use Redex in my petrol tank and it does seem to keep the fuel system clean. Also, check that the intake rubbers between the carbs and the cylinder head are in good condition and not perished. Simple way to check is to spray Easy Start or similar (I believe WD40 works as well) over the intake rubbers - if the revs rise it means the spray is getting into the engine and the rubbers are in need of replacing.

I also have the 1200 and use redex additive - get mine from Costco half the price of normal motor factors
