I have just got this beauty running after a few years slumber, she seems great. When I came home from a 40 mile shakedown I heard this chrirping-ish sound. My 96 Sprint 900 does not sound like this. What do the old hands think??

sorry for all the trouble. I went through the service book that came with the bike, complete dealer serviced and documented up to the 90,000km service, and that was in 2008, so it has covered 6,670km in 12 years.

I put 200 miles on her today. I must not have a thermostat in the hose because she ran so cold when moving and only went up in stop and go traffic. BTW where can I get new radiator hoses? Im having trouble locating the 4 cyl daytona or even trophy hoses.

Video working now. Couldn't hear anything strange given its age and mileage mate. Others might.....

Samco did not list the Daytona, Trophy, four 1200 , they had hoses for almost everything else. I suspect my hoses are OE so I’m looking to not have trouble down the road. Funny but I only seem to be able to find used hoses. I hate to go to my German dealer because of the cost.

Any ideas on stocking parts houses would be great

Thanks for the tip, BTW I love how the 4th cyl seems to be just an add on, hanging off the right side like a gunfighters Colt .45

I have the 1200 and use it regularly, mine sounds pretty similar to be honest, it was always a bit like a bag of nails even when new. My fairing will also "hide" a good bit of noise so you have an advantage over me there.

I have always found it runs at the cooler end of the temp gauge when moving and only climbing higher up at the lights, I would not be terribly concerned about that but a thermostat check should be easy. I buy my parts in a mix from Triumph dealer or Sprint Manufacturing who have a lot of useful stuff (no hoses though). I have found the Triumph pricing to be dear on some stuff and then cheap on other.

I would take the time to do the valve clearances though, at least the check which is easy. My bike didn't sound too bad and was showing a valve adjustment 4,000 miles ago but when I checked six were out, one very badly. If I had left it it would of been a head off job. Enjoy the lopsided beast!
