I've been thinking about getting one of these from a site on ebay called BS MOTOPARTS - they look pretty decent - just wondered if there was anyone out there who has tried one - my current rear paddock stand doesn't work on the America & although the front one does go under the forks - I want to take the forks out over the winter to give them a service - anyhow - here's a pic of the stand I was thinking of getting constands-midlift-s-3.jpg

Yo Dodge, not seen one before but looks well thought out and fully moveable round garage with bike still on (very carefully, and floor needs to be smooth as yer know). I've had a pal overbalance his America on a similar style stand, but my simpler one works fine on my Triumphs and HD's. No wheels on bottom, and rollers go inside frame rather than across garage floor as bike rises. £60/70 will get a German one , or Sealey, both on ebay as yer probably know :upyeah:

    Hi Dodge,

I recently bought one from them a couple months ago for my Thruxton. Once you find the balance point It sits quite sturdy, although it can feel a bit unsecure on there. I will make some "outriders" for extra support just to ease my nervousness. Also as the frame is quite flush with the engine I'm probably going to make some blocks to fit on the frame to lift it off the engine a bit. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing any heavy wrench work on it without some extra support. I was also able to push the bike around the drive-way a bit. Its good for the price £80 quid including p&p, I think. and the company were very helpful when I had a slight problem with it.

ABBA motorcycle lifts are very good :upyeah:

Had one on my T595 and found it brilliant to use.

thanks for the input guys , I think I'll give it a go - I might make some stabilising posts though to give it extra support while I'm working it

I got this stand yesterday , it took 3 days from ordering it to arrive , which was pretty impressive , for around £5 delivery charge , and I've tried it out & its really impressive , the assembly needed was minimal , took about 10 mins , (and most of that was me looking for my circlip pliers ) anyway, it lifts the bike up quite high & the bike is very very stable on it , no need for any extra support , & if its let down onto the safety catches either side , the pressure is off the pump & I've just left it there , with both wheels a few inches off the floor . It's so safe that you can actually climb up & sit on the bike (yes I had to do it) . Well impressed with it , 90 quid well spent :upyeah:

oh yeah , forgot to say, I can also wheel the bike around on it , which is dead handy for turning it round etc etc

Glad you like it. Must admit I haven't tried sitting on it yet, but have wheeled it around. The problem with it and the thruxton is that where the perfect balance point is is just where the oil filter is and as the engine is so flush to the frame I am concerned it might put undue pressure on the filter so I have not got it on the perfect spot. Once I have built up some brackets to put a bit of space between lift and parts of the frame it should work fine.

oh right , mine sits either side of the oil filter , I did think that the only down side with it is that I wouldn't be able to change the oil & filter because the stand is in the way , which is a bit of a shame but other than that it's spot on :upyeah:

What you can do is clear the filter by only using it as a centre stand, so use it to support the bike with the wheels on the ground, then you don't have to be in the sweet spot, balance wise that is!
