Dependant on how far and wide members are...... just a quick hello and although currently on the look out for a speed triple thought I would get as much hints and tips on the various modes out there..... I'm a long and should be experience rider and have just about covered everything out there having had quiet a few rides over the years.... and without giving too much away I passed my test in 78 ! that's 1978 not 78mins....then upgraded from my SS50 to a GT185 (how I wish I still had those bikes)...! With Jap machinery being owned mainly I decided recently I'm getting a bit too old to dress like a power ranger and thought buying a GS1200 would be a good switch (one of the most comfortable bikes I've ever ridden) but have had desires of owing a speed triple for quiet a while and decided to take a punt....looking as I write this intro.... So hello to all...... Rob With a budget of around 7 - 8 K hoping to find something decent.......
Cheers yes I know both very well and will be keeping tabs on both sites..... although I'm a fan of buying private..... and have had some great buys from the genuine sellers out there..... I bought the GS (Low mileage) minter in feb but its not for me as she lacks a wee bit of umph ! if you get my drift...
GS1200..... 09 plate... took her to Assen for the GP and got to admit nothing really wrong with bike.... and comfy as f..k ! but just decided to go for a speed triple for a bit of a change....
Welcome RROB, Great choice of bike... The speed is an absolute ICON. Great ride, great engine, and easy to ride well. Flatters me anyway. Welcome to a great forum. Help us NEVER more than a minute away on here. At the money you're looking at, it's a buyers market. Low mileage, loads of extras. Good luck! Atb Bob
Thanks Bob I would love a new one ..... and have been offered some great deals but the bargains are the year or two older ones out there..... will be cocking my leg over one very soon I hope.....
Welcome RROB I went from a 2010 GS1200 to a 2015 Speed Triple. The two are like chalk and cheese. Biggest difference for me though is suspension. Do a couple of hundred miles on a GS and I could get off nice and fresh. Do the same on a Speedy and you can feel that bit of fatigue. But then that is what an engaging ride is all about!
RRob welcome in, you need to take time looking, Triumph have a great range to choose from if you have a good mechanical knowledge of bikes then go for low mileage second hand in mint condition and at the right price wish you luck and enjoyment in your new investment.
Well after a few weeks of trawling the net , bay of thieves, and steal trader...... I've found a 2011 speedy almost on my doorstep......mint (showroom mint) low mileage (6K) and priced about right.....I think ! with Arrow Cans and in my new fav colour....... Black ! Picking her up tonight and cant wait to have a good ride !!
Welcome to your new home ! First time ride home and she was thrown about like a WWE Wrestler ! A few little tweaks and she'll be perfect !
Right locked her up in the tower of doom..... no one will touch her bar me !.......and the little mice that run about in the wee hours !!..... and don't be jealous Ade..... its only another bike.....I'm sure you've ridden a few in your prime !
